A Message from Constable Michael Truitt

When I took over as Constable, I had three goals in mind. First, I needed to improve the image of the Constable's Office. Second, I wanted to improve the customer service of the Constable’s Office. Third, I needed to improve the equipment we use to do our job. Since November 2005, I believe that we have come a long way in achieving these goals.

The image of the Precinct 2 Constable's Office has improved substantially. We have improved our relationships with other county offices, as well as with other law enforcement agencies within the county, by employing a spirit of cooperation between agencies. I have also started an education program to inform the public sector about the rich heritage of the Constable offices in Texas, as well as the duties of a Constable as mandated by statute.

My second goal, and probably the most important to you, is the customer service that this office provides to its clients. In order to promote better customer service, I have implemented some initiatives that I believe have improved our customer service substantially, the first being education. All sworn personnel must attend 20 hours of continuing education on civil procedure each year. This is twice the amount mandated by the state. In addition, all full time sworn personnel who are eligible are required to have their Civil Process Proficiency Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education. This assures you, the client, your process is being done by highly qualified and professional personnel.

In addition to education, I have staggered the working hours of the deputies. Since most of Precinct 2 is residential, this staggered schedule allows deputies to deliver legal documents both early in the morning and late into the evening. Each process that comes into our office must be attempted within 24 hours of receipt. These, along with several other changes that have been made, ensure that your process is being done in a timely manner.

My third goal, and the most important to my personnel, was the improvement of the equipment that they use in the execution of their duties. The types of vehicles that are being used have been changed to better suit our needs and the equipment within vehicles has been updated in order to assure the deputy's safety as well as the safety of the public. Each vehicle is now equipped with a computer to give the deputy instant access to information in the field, thus saving valuable time.

All of these factors combined with the great staff that I currently employ, have translated into this office serving more papers per deputy than any other Constable Office within Denton County.

However, in order to continue and even expand all of the positive improvements established in my last term, I need your help in the form of both political and financial support. Your timely donation to my campaign helps solidify my bid for re-election so please take a moment to send your financial support today to assist our campaign and help keep all of our positive efforts on track.

With your vote at the Primary Election on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, I will continue that service as your Constable.

Sincerley,

Michael A. Truitt
Constable
Denton County Precinct 2
